Kem Tahfiz Bez!!!!

Monday, December 25, 2006

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiim.

Assalaamu'alaikum....

Ceramah Ustaz Firdaus pula tentang cara-cara menghafal Al-Quran mengikut kelebihan masing2(auditory,visual and tactile), serta cara-cara pengukuhan hafalan.

Ilaa liqaa'anaa!!

wassalaam.

THE KING’S DREAM

The scene opens in the bed chamber of the king. The king is asleep. He sees himself on the banks of the Nile river. The water is receding before him, becoming mere mud. The fish began to skip and jump in the mud. Seven fat cows came out of the river followed by seven lean cows. The seven lean ones devoured the seven fat ones. The king is terrified. Then seven ears of green grain grow on the river banks and disappear in the mud. On the same spot grow seven dry ears of grain.

The king awoke, frightened, depressed and shocked, not knowing what all this meant. He sent for the sorcerers, priests and ministers, and told them his dreams.

The sorcerers said, “This is a mixed up dream. How can any of that be? It is a nightmare.”

The priests said, “Perhaps his majesty had a heavy supper.”

The chief minister said, “Could it be that his majesty was exposed and did not draw the blanket up at night?”

The court jester said, jokingly, “His majesty is becoming old, so his dreams are confused.”

They reached a unanimous decision that the dream was only a nightmare.

The news reached the cupbearer. He ran to the king to tell him about Joseph (pbuh), who was the only one capable of interpreting the dream. The king then sent the cupbearer to ask Joseph (pbuh) about the dream.

JOSEPH’S INTERPRETATION OF THE DREAM

Joseph (pbuh) interpreted to him: “There will be seven years of abundance. If the land is properly cultivated, there will be excess of good harvest, more than the people will need. This should be stored. Thereafter seven years of famine will follow, during which time the excess grain could be used.

He also advised that during the famine they should save some grain to be used for seed for the next harvest. Joesph (pbuh) then added, “after seven year of drought, there will be a year which water will be plentiful. If the water is properly used, grapevines and olive trees will grow in abundance, providing plenty of grapes and olive oil.”

The cupbearer hurried back with the good news. The king was fascinated by Joseph’s (pbuh) interpretation.

THE DREAM AND INTERPRETATION – QURANIC

012.043 The king of Egypt said, “I do see (in a vision) seven fat kine, whom seven lean ones devour, and seven ears of corn, and seven (others) withered. Oh ye chiefs! Expound to me my vision if it be that ye can interpret visions.”

012.044 They said, “A confused medley of dreams: and we are not skilled in the interpretation of dreams.”

012.045 But the man who had been released, one of the two (who had been in prison) and who now bethought him after (so long) a space of time said: “I will tell you the truth of its interpretation: send ye me (therefore).”

012.046 “Oh Joseph!”(he said) “Oh man of truth! Expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that I may return to the people, and that they may understand.”

012.047 (Joseph) said: “For seven years shall ye diligently sow as is your wont: and the harvests that ye reap, ye shall leave them in the ear,- except a little, of which ye shall eat.

012.048 “Then will come after that (period) seven dreadful (years), which will devour what ye shall have laid by in advance for them, - (all) except a little which ye shall have (specially) guarded.

012.049 “Then there will come after that (period) a year in which the people will have abundant water, and in which they will press (wine and oil).”

CONCLUSION

The many many ministers, sorcerers and priests in the palace could not interpret the king’s dream. And I am sure if WE were to be given this to interpret, we would have NEVER thought to interpret it till all the seven years of abundance or famine, would we? We would NEVER have thought that the dream would have held so much meaning in it.

During my days of yore in Pergas, back in Year 1, my ustadz gave us this to interpret. He wrote on the board the dream, and asked us to think and write down what our interpretations are. For those who have already known the answer we are to be silent. So I did not participate in this particular assignment. I just sat and listened as one by one my classmates came up with so many different opinions and thoughts! There was even this person who interpreted it as such: Seven lean cows ate the seven fat cows because they were starved by their master and so they were soooo hungry and when they saw these seven fats cows roaming about, they decided to eat them all up! LOL! ;p

So, Masya Allah, Prophet Joseph’s interpretation was really great!

the story of prophet Yusuf alaihissalam - part 1

Saturday, December 9, 2006
Among all the stories in the Quran, the one that I enjoyed reading the most was about Prophet Yusuf aka Joseph (peace be upon him). The reason being that it is the most detailed and fascinating story in the Quran, involving human weakness such as jealousy, hatred, pride, passion, deception, intrigue, cruelty and terror as well as noble qualities of humans such as patience, loyalty, bravery, nobility and compassion.

It is related that among the reasons for its revelations were that the Jews asked Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to tell them about Joseph (pbuh) who was one of their old prophets. His story has been distorted in parts and marred in others with interpolation and exclusions. Therefore it is revealed in the book of Allah, complete in its minute and careful detail.

Allah the Almighty declared:
012:003 We do not relate unto thee the most beautiful of stories, in that We reveal to thee this (portion of the) Quran: before this, thou too was among those who knew not.

Allah the Almighty decreed:
020:099 Thus do we relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a message from Our own presence.

020:100 If any do turn away thererfrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of Judgement;

020:101 They will abide in this (state): grievous will the burden be to them on that Day.-

The story of Joseph (pbuh) moves in a stream from beginning to end; its substance and form are equally coherent. It inspires you with a feeling for the depth of Allah’s power and supremacy and the execution of His rulings, despite the challenge of human intervention.

“And Allah has full power and control over His affairs, but most among mankind know it not.” (Al-Quran 12:21, last sentence of this verse)

SUMMARY OF JOSEPH’S STORY

Let me start with the summary of his life before going on to my favourite part of the story. Joseph (pbuh) had lived all his life confronting schemes made by the people closest to him. His brothers plotted to kill him, but amended to exiling him. This happened to him when he was a boy. He was sold into the slave market in Egypt, where he was bought for a nominal sum. Then he fell victim to the attempted seduction by a great man’s wife who, when her wish was foiled, sent him to prison, where he remained for some time. In spite of all these, he at length approached close to the Egyptian throne and became the king’s Chief Minister. He then began his call to Allah from the position of the ruling authority.

JOSEPH’S CHILDHOOD

As the sun appeared across the horizon, bathing the Earth in its morning glory, Joseph (pbuh), son of Prophet Jacob (pbuh) awoke from his sleep, delighted by a pleasant dream he had had. Filled with excitement, he ran to his father and related it.

012:004 Behold! Joseph (pbuh) said to his father, “Oh my father! I did see eleven stars and the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrate themselves to me!”

Therefore it was narrated that Allah’s messenger prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was asked: “Who is the most honourable amongst the people?” He replied, “The most God-fearing.” The people said, “We do not want to ask you about this.” He said, “The most honourable person is Joseph, Allah’s prophet, the son of Allah’s prophet (Jacob pbuh), the son of the faithful friend of Allah (Abraham pbuh) –Sohih Bukhari

So now I have come to my favourite part of the story, which I shall tell in chapters.
